January musings

Still trying to use this new account, having trouble with pictures, so here goes...been a great holiday period, my rotator cuff is doing great, but I am impatient, and want it to be well NOW, and planning is moving along with a work weekend this weekend at the camp, hopefully Scott Harper Browder and Greg will be there to assist Ray in digging a trench for the watering system, cutting up two trees, cutting down and clearing by the log cabin, starting the redecking of the Old Party barge....and the list goes on...We have had a wet and cool winter, and the Lake is slam full and just gorgeous, will be great fishing, hopefully and we are having a Mardi Gras
fishfry on the 18th for the neighbors, since we didn't have our fall soiree because my work was so slow with one arm....the I love me Museum is coming along so great, will be so good to have my life in pics, in a dry and cool location, Beth and Rics room is now called the Electrical Room , sincce I routed all of the wires to the box there..still available as a guest room, will send pics as I progress, and let me know when you'all can come to the Lake and we will have a party, and Bradley and I can safely swim across, at Boone's Crossing, about 2 and 1/3 miles, assuming my arm heals enough. now if I can get the pics posted, slow so only a few, hope it comes out love col

Happy Holidays-from the Farm and the Camp-Thanksgiving was perfect weather, cool, and the leaves were so colorful, hard to improve on God's blessings, but I tried with a few pictures, including my first aerial shots from N71133, hope I can make this work if not Beth, I will call next week and you can educate me.
Wow, it worked, but I still can learn to be more efficient...and better, and yes that is a beard, it makes me look like a distinguished yardman. I tried to take an aerial of Shelby's house but could not find it, very puzzling, but will try again this week , so I can give it to him for Christmas. The Viagra Ski team is booked for Germany 2-12March, thanks to Luscious Linton, who got me and Shelby on the phone with the NWA travel agent, and for once Shelby's stupid question actually paid off, we got the exact flight we wanted. It's a long story, best told over a jar of Christmas cheer....The camp has really progressed, the Ilovememusuem is secure and mostly sealed, ready for the rest of the paint and flooring, should be some discontinued sales after the holidays, and the Lonesome Dove is ready to be nailed down and finished, hope Ray and Harper can help, but they usually don't respond until after I have done the work,,,Daniel is scheduled to go to Basic on the 3Jan07,and then to a radar repair school for 44 weeks, which is like a college education, say a prayer he can do it,,,seems motivated, but Ana remains a big question, Clayton is gorgeous and seems to be healthy...will fly to MLU for lunch with Chas and Bonnie and Bryan's new baby girl ..but first I gotta get this left wing fixed on 8dec. will be glad to use it again and yes I will be more careful on the big roof, and yes I did get my left eyebrow shaved by a discarded lawn mower blade which fell off a nail as I was putting in my washer connections, but since it was mostly in my eyebrow, the old handy hyrogen peroxide and duct tape will prevent any noticeable scar..the twins and the twins and all are just fine. and my buddy David has a date with Jolene for Marcia Ball???who is playing at the Reilly theatre next week,,love always Col

Colonel does it again...

The five p's were in place, but slippage at my age takes on several meanings. After my fall from the roof at the farm house, I was very careful to plan, test, and evaluate, my ascension to the second story to remove the chimney cover and blow the straw out of the V's. But due to the senior slippage, I apparently did not test or evaluate properly my descent from the second roof line..I turned to place my feet directly under me so I could insure no slippage to the ladder resting solidly on the bottom roof. No need to worry, as I turned, both feet went out like I had stepped on ice, and this 180 reached maximum velocity rather quickly, bounced on the first floor roof, and I sailed off that roof in the exact spot as last spring, hit the deck bench with my head, hands and legs, bounced off and into the roots of the adjacent pine tree....voo ja day...de ju vew, but it really hurt, didn't loose consciousness, crawled over to the deck, turned over and the blood filled my eyes, had cracked the skin over my left eye..Blue and Cutter beat Susan there, and there were very helpful as was Susan, who insisted I go to the emergency room for stitches, which I explained that would cost a lot, and I couldn't finish my mowing for the day, and she said, well, it probably won't leave a big scar.. break, hope I can attach a few pics, the twins and twins and babies all came over for Pizz a for my 62 birthday bash, and Sue Sue told witches stories and scared Paul and Ainsley....love always Col

Eagles rest report

where can I type, now it does it,,,About Spunky Buddy...Last Sunday Susan goes over to her Mom's house because MawMaw is not feeling well. About 8:00pm, She drives up and comes in the back door and is crying and pointing to the car, and I HEAR, I just couldn't leave her alone, so I jump up and head out the door to assist Maw Maw out of the car. You can imagine when I opened the darkened car, what a surprise to have Spunky jump out. I readily confess to having mixed emotions, somewhat relieved it wasn't Maw Maw, but unsure about adding another animal to our kingdom..reminded me of Beth and all the animals she brought home ...break, the Ilovememuesuem, below the eagles rest is basically sealed up, this pic is the writing corner and the first pic put up is from a Christmas past where Igave each kid a picture of me in uniform. I know youall have it displayed prominently in the attic....got a call from Sue Cobb and she has retired and writing about Holly Ridge, has commissioned me to write a short story about the THOMPSONS, which I will publish shortly. Remember I still wear my high school ring which Beth saved for me, so writing will be fun and my memory is not clouded with facts it is my memory after all...love always col

cats under the fig tree

Say hello to Hellmut and Adolphine, 2 of our 8 somewhat feral cats who sit under the fig tree, awaiting our return so we can feed them....I had named the little mustacho Adolph, after George Bush, but he turned up pregnant, so I changed his name to Adolphine.Hellmut is the cat in charge at the farm and the least feral. We had many deer born this year, including a beautiful set of twins, who barely escaped my bushhogging, but they did what mommy said, do not leave this tall grass. I will try to put a pic on this blog.

Wow, I am getting the hang of this blogging..

This past week, we got the 182 home after replacing the left fuel cell, made progress on the Eagles rest, pics to follow, or I will do another blog, saved a stray dog which I named Spunky, and we gave it to Woody next door so Susan can still have control of its life. Woody named him Buddy, and as soon as we finish repairing Woody's fence, I think he will stay at his new home. Blue was very happy to see him go.

hello, Michelle reading to Joey, the Jack Russell Harper rescued from the pound. Michelle is an avid reader and learned to cook for us and we worked harder on the Lonesome Dove II.

Hey Jackson 4...building the new Lonesome Dove II at the camp...notice Ray is absent, but I understand he was cleaning the home bathroom..We used almost every tool you left with me, even the unbalanced step ladder, sharpen my blades with the grinder, and the short step ladder was very helpful, thanks and come see me!!!Bill Kelly thought we were playing golf, you'd think he would learn after 40 yrs...will attempt to add a picture of Michelle and Joey love always dad
